Melges 24 European Championship 2026 – Melgina Takes the Lead after 6 races

After Tuesday’s racing was cancelled due to a lack of wind, the 2026 Melges 24 European Championship returned in spectacular fashion Wednesday.

Four races were completed in strong winds and high waves, pushing the sailors and their boats to the limit. The demanding conditions took a heavy toll on the fleet, with six broken masts, several collisions and damaged sails. Most importantly, every sailor returned safely to the marina.

Overall Melgina of Paolo Brescia ITA, and in the Corinthian Storm Capital Peder Jahre NOR rose to the top after a spectacular heavy-weather test.

Race winners were: Race 3 Ante Cesic’s Razjaren (CRO 867), Race 4 Paolo Brescia’s Melgina (ITA 854), Race 5 Peder Jahre’s Storm Capital (NOR 751) and Race 6 was again Paolo Brescia’s Melgina (ITA 854).
