Tudor Team Alinghi has announced that Italian helmsman Francesco Bruni will join the Swiss challenger for the 38th America’s Cup.
Bruni comes from Luna Rossa and will take the role of helmsman and skipper. A seven-time world champion in various classes, he helmed Luna Rossa in Barcelona in 2024. He then moved into a coaching role with the Italian team.
Ernesto Bertarelli, owner of Tudor Team Alinghi, said: “I’m grateful to Luna Rossa for agreeing to Francesco’s transfer. He brings exceptional talent at the helm, along with an energy and enthusiasm that will lift everyone around him. I’m delighted to welcome him in the Team.”
In the recent AC40 Preliminary Event, Paul Goodison (GBR) was Skipper and Starboard Helm, and Phil Robertson (NZL) the Port Helm.
Bruni will relocate to Naples, where the Alinghi AC75, Boat_One, is due to arrive at the Swiss Team’s Bagnoli base, and they will begin sailing in December.
