Route du Rhum – Laperche (SVR-Lazartigue) with victory and the record in sight

Tom Laperche (SVR-Lazartigue) is on the final approaching to Guadeloupe with a course record within his grasp.

With just 65 nm to go, at the Tête à l’Anglais, the little volcanic islet off the north of Basse Terre he will turn for the climb to the finish line off Pointe-à-Pitre.

Laperche is more than 300 nm ahead of second place Thomas Collville, and looks to have some 15 hours in hand to cover the final 65 miles if he is to break the 6d 19h course record set in 2022 by Charles Caudrelier on Gitana 17, a target which seems likely.

But there is many a mistake . . . And until he crosses the finish he will not celebrating.
