Live coverage from the Starling Nationals at Worser Bay – Days 1 thru 4

The BONDS Flying Roos SailGP team has closed out the opening day of its historic debut event in Rio de Janeiro in pole position and firmly in the hunt for a Super Sunday podium final.

The penultimate day of racing at the Antigua Racing Cup was delayed due to allow a big rain squall to pass through. The wind speed and direction was in a state of flux all day. The first race of the day started in sub-ten knots.

These images, shot during the 2016 Olympics, and the 2026 SailGP regatta in Rio de Janeiro – give some idea of why the breeze on Guanabara Bay is highly variable in pressure and direction.

The Bonds Flying Roos lead the fleet with 28 points after the opening four fleet races of the Enel Rio Sail Grand Prix. A red-hot U.S. SailGP Team is close behind in second (27 points), while Artemis SailGP Team round out the podium group.

An early sunrise start proved decisive on Day 2 of the Melges 24 European Sailing Series 2026 opener, where a proactive call from the organisers-YC Croatia and the Croatian Melges 24 Class-allowed the fleet to capitalise on a narrow morning breeze window.
