The last time Etchells did Cork Week was in 1990 – the year the QE2 first visited Cork. The QE2 retired in 2008 but the Etchells class continues to prosper in the UK, the USA, Australia, Hong Kong, Canada and New Zealand.

Over 70 members of Overy Staithe Sailing Club joined together to celebrate the 2025 season and present trophies and commemorative glasses to the very many competitors who have raced at the club during the season.

Tomorrow, Jono Ridler will set off from Waikuku Beach at Otou, North Cape right at the very tip of Aotearoa New Zealand on his 1,000-mile mission. The start time is tentatively set for midday.

After a superb stopover in Sydney, the Class40s of the 2nd edition of the GLOBE40 set sail again on Thursday, January 1st at 3:00 PM local time (4:00 AM UTC) for the 4th leg, which will take them, after a transpacific crossing, to Valparaiso, Chile.

A fleet of 47 boats took part in the regatta which was contested a variety of light and heavy winds and seas. The regatta was generously sponsored by Riley Fittings and MD Spars.

The highly fancied Sail Inc. crew of Nick Press and Andrew Hay have claimed the opening race of the 2026 triSearch 12ft Skiff Interdominion Championship, the second race abandoned due to a predicted thunderstorm showing up on time.

A stunning winter’s day greeted 16 intrepid crews for a very chilly second weekend to the Frostbite series….. thankfully the forecasted 12 – 25 knot -5 windchill didn’t materialise, however the 8-12 knot NW still produced a sub-zero wind chill!

Despite the forecast of 30mph gusts and sub-zero wind chill there was a good turnout for the Ripon SC Whisky Stakes on New Year’s Day.
