The six international IMOCA crews competing in the inaugural edition of The Ocean Race Atlantic left New York Harbor today after a midday ceremonial start in front of the Statue of Liberty.

With the Statue of Liberty watching over New York harbour, Ollie Heer, Liz Wardley, Marie Riou, Lincoln Dews and onboard reporter Paddy Condy stepped onboard Embrace The Challenge and waved goodbye.

After the previous day’s strong winds and rain, things looked more settled for initially the 6 One-Designs moored at Under Tyne; they were joined by No 3 (Stephan Ludwig single handed) who sailed down from Seaview.
