To be honest, Lymington Town SC wasn’t expecting a call from the British International 6-Metre Class Association, but when asked to host the 2026 British Championships we were excited and delighted to have the opportunity to host these amazing boats.

The 2025 Mounts Bay Nationals left Nigel Wakefield as Champion, Andy Jones second, Huw Powell third and Nils Jolliffe fourth. Since then, some have improved, some have maintained form, and some have presumably spent the winter studying tidal charts.

Despite suffering a man overboard and having to retire from the last race of day one, Adam Douglas & George Kyffin’s Eazi Tiger were already looking like strong contenders for the title with two bullets.

With fewer than 60 days before the start of the 13th Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe, everything is gathering pace!

The Stokes Bay Europe Open was a national ranking event, with 16 Europes attending. Hosted by Stokes Bay SC, the Europes had their own start as part of the ‘S-BOSH’ (Stokes Bay Open for Single Handers).

Epic racing conditions welcomed the North Sails sponsored IRC National Championship fleet to the Dartmouth Sailing Week. Fruity breeze starting in the high teens catapulted to 30 plus knots for much of the regatta.

The celebrations are over; the ocean has taken charge. Sixteen sailors departed on Sunday, 6 September, for the 2026 McIntyre Golden Globe Race, cheered through the Les Sables d’Olonne harbour channel by thousands of supporters.

After a fairly nomadic summer, I’ve only recently returned to my ‘home’ club at Dalgety Bay to brush up on what I can ahead of our forthcoming UK Nationals.

The Camel Week regatta is open to most dinghy classes and catamarans, and the 2026 edition was sponsored by the Point and supported by St Austell Brewery. The regatta also celebrated the launch of the Club’s new committee boat ‘Lilly Mae’.
