The 49er, 49erFX, and Nacra 17 Olympic Classes 2026 World Championships open with racing from 2–17 May

As the European sailing season gets fully under way, it’s already been a busy and exciting start to the year for the team at GP Watercraft and the athletes we support across the international circuit.

Ripon SC hosted a Steaker Open meeting on 9 May, one of the Streaker class’s Northern Paddle and Yorkshire series. The forecast for the event was not optimistic, rain and light winds only giving way to up to 16mph late in the day.

Denmark’s Lea Vogelius and her WOW Racing crew of Louise Ulrikkeholm, Sille Christensen, Josefine Rasmussen, Joan Hansen and Maria Juul delivered a standout performance on home waters to win the 2026 KDY Women’s Match Race.

Entries are now open and the Notice of Race available for the 2027 RORC Transatlantic Race and the 2027 RORC Caribbean 600.

After 2025 in Toulon it wasn’t a hard decision for the 2.4 fleet to head down south. Racing with 12mRs is special. For a lot of our fleet the 12s were their America’s Cup so to be able to race on the same bit of water is one of those moments in sailing.

This weekend, the Rooster sponsored ILCA UK Youth Series had its second event held at Yorkshire Dales Sailing Club. Although there was a lower turn out than last time it didn’t stop the fierce competition amongst the ILCA 6 fleet.
