A weekend where patience, nerve and a feel for pressure bands mattered more than raw boat speed.

SSL Team South Africa has reached the midpoint of an intensive six-day training camp at the Star Sailors League Training Center in Grandson, Switzerland, stepping up preparations for the 2026 SSL World Cup in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The 2026 Hunter Impala National Championship arrived in Torbay as part of the Torbay Royal Regatta, bringing together ten entries from across the South Coast and beyond.

The Silver Fleet enjoyed a week of friendly racing, with plenty of calls of “well done”, and even a few of “after you” at turning marks!

The latest round of the Sanders Sails Travellers series took the Class back to Oxford Sailing Club on Saturday 22 August, a joint event with the Solo and British Moth fleets. Eight visitors joined two home boats to compete in 3 races during the day.

The 1970s was a wonderful decade of evolution in the 18 footers, with strong international fleets, an incredible level of talented competitors and designers, as well as some brilliant competition in World championship regattas.

Up and down, round and round: that pretty well sums up where the boats were going on the Tuesday of Poole Week, and what the wind was doing too.

A race win saw Tom Saunders finish Day 1 of the ILCA 7 World Championships just inside the top 20, with the New Zealander producing a strong late-day performance in a challenging opening three-race series in Dún Laoghaire, Ireland.

Monday had definitely been too windy to race, which meant 3 races in the plan for Tuesday. Forecast was for an ESE average 16kts gusting 20, perfect conditions for Portland Harbour.
