Two races completed on day 1 for the 203 entries, resulting in four competitors tied for the lead – due to the immediate application of the discard.

Race Committee made the decision to move the racing up two hours to try and catch as much wind as possible before it died. So with a few extra yawns and a lot of extra caffeine, teams made it to the start line for a 10am warning.

We write this report to the sound of hammers chiselling away at mast track, the sight of boats on their sides with full MOT checks on-going, and unfortunately, a couple of new masts being rigged up.

They say the best must be able to sail in all conditions and for the two-day 2026 River Cruiser Open held at the Norfolk Punt Club, twelve of the very best arrived on Saturday to test themselves out in driving rain and very strong gusty winds.

The second event in the 2026 Cambridgeshire Youth League was held at Grafham Water Sailing Club on Saturday 6th June. The CYL consists of five Cambridgeshire sailing clubs: Cam SC, Ely SC, Grafham Water SC, Hunts SC and Paxton Lakes SC.

Last Saturday saw the first Waldringfield SC club team racing event. The day dawned blustery and rainy.

The 2026 Blaze Nationals will see the class coming together en-masse again in June for the season’s showcase event, and will be punctuated by the Blaze’s 30th anniversary year celebrations.

Over 140 sailors took part in the Multi-Class Open Meeting Weekend at Hayling Island SC for the 505, Fireball, Merlin Rocket and Flying 15 over the weekend of the 6 – 7 June.

With the African and Oceanian Qualifiers complete it was all change in Grandson, Switzerland with seven Europeans arriving, ready to try and book their ticket to Rio.

On Sunday 7th June, Royal Harwich Yacht club hosted the eastern area GP traveller series. We had 28 boats in total entered for the day: four ILCA 4, eight ILCA 6 and sixteen ILCA 7.
