The latest round of the Sanders Sails Travellers series took the Class back to Oxford Sailing Club on Saturday 22 August, a joint event with the Solo and British Moth fleets. Eight visitors joined two home boats to compete in 3 races during the day.

The 1970s was a wonderful decade of evolution in the 18 footers, with strong international fleets, an incredible level of talented competitors and designers, as well as some brilliant competition in World championship regattas.

Up and down, round and round: that pretty well sums up where the boats were going on the Tuesday of Poole Week, and what the wind was doing too.

Monday had definitely been too windy to race, which meant 3 races in the plan for Tuesday. Forecast was for an ESE average 16kts gusting 20, perfect conditions for Portland Harbour.

Racing got underway today at the 2026 ILCA 7 Men’s World Championship in Dún Laoghaire, with the first three races of the qualifying series completed.

Sixteen Solent Scows entered the re-scheduled Solent Scow Championship organised this year by Bembridge SC with RIB assistance from Brading Haven SC on Saturday evening.
