The sun was out in full force for the third event in the 2026 Sailing Chandlery sponsored RS200 Northern Tour hosted by Staunton Harold SC on Saturday, 23rd May. Four visitors joined six home boats for the event.

Only two seconds separated the front runners in this year’s 55th Vasco da Gama Ocean Race that started offshore of Durban on Sunday 24 May.

Round 3 (I think) of the Solo Midland Area Series, sponsored by Allen and CB Trailer and Coverstore, took place at South Staffs SC on Saturday 16th May. Eleven home boats were joined by five visitors.

Eleven boats, made up of seven classics and four vintage came to Rickmansworth SC to take part in a three race series including a main trophy race sailed over two days. The Saturday was shared with a Firefly open meeting.

Considering it is a fleet of very different maxi yachts, the playing field levelled by the IRC rating rule, competition remains ultra-tight at the IMA Maxi European Championship in Sorrento.

After a record-breaking 2025 edition with 32 crews, 2026 is dedicated to solo sailing, with the Route du Rhum on the horizon for the Class40, which will be the largest class in terms of participation.
