Just as the northern hemisphere begins to think of shorter days and the need for warmer clothes, the offshore racing community looks to grab one more chance to indulge their passion for testing skill, resilience and determination.

After a busy summer of racing many Norfolk Punt sailors had used up all their sailing ‘Brownie Points’, with some punts undergoing repairs and younger teams returning to university, it was a smaller, but select fleet.

Match racing returned to Victorian waters over the weekend, with Royal Geelong Yacht Club’s Open Match Racing Regatta providing a valuable lead-in to next month’s Australian Youth Match Racing Championship.

The Wave Rally World Championships has won the Sport Promotion Award at the 2026 Western Australian Sailing Awards, recognising the Geraldton-born event for promoting windsurfing, Geraldton and the Mid West to national and international audiences.

Greenock Model Yacht and Power Boat Club hosted the 2026 MYA SD DF65 Championship and the DF65 Open Regatta at Murdieston Dam on the 29th and 30th August 2026. The event drew six skippers from three different clubs in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

As the Class’s 90th anniversary approaches its season’s conclusion, many of the National 12 fleet joined local members at the Solway Yacht Club in Kippford for a weekend of championship sailing for the superb Scottish Daily Express Trophy.

The threat of lightning and torrential rain kept competitors ashore yesterday during what was supposed to be the first day of mandatory practice for the 2026 Women’s International Championship Presented by State Street Investment Management / SPY.

The third and final day brought another shift in the weather, with a damp start and lighter westerly winds. To minimise the impact of the strong ebb tide, racing was brought forward by an hour on the final day.

Seven Challenger sailors travelled to Llyn Brenig on Friday 11 September for the Welsh Open Challenger Championship due to take place that weekend.

The weather forecast was looking promising, WSW 3-4, partly cloudy. The water levels at Hedgecourt Lake however were much lower than normal due to the prolonged drought so the race team set a smaller course to avoid the shallows near the edges.
