La Roche-Posay Racing Team capsized their AC75 off the coast of Lorient on Tuesday, 7 July.
The team reported on social media that they experienced system issues, causing the boat to capsize. All crew members are okay.
Conditions were flat sea and light breeze when the incident occurred off Lorient during a practice session.
CEO Bruno Dubois reported that the team had experienced system issues, causing the boat to capsize.
Only a small amount of water entered the hull but that they would check all the systems and did not think that any damage occurred.
The France team AC75 is a clone of the Kiwi AC37 winner, purchased from Emirates Team New Zealand for the 2024 Cup, and now upgraded with new systems to the latest version of the AC75 protocol, to include the battery powered systems that replace the former grinder systems.
The purchase of the design package from ETNZ and upgrading from that base could turnout to be the most cost/performance method of approaching AC38, bearing in mind the short timescale available and obvious performance advantage of the ETNZ AC75 in the last Cup.
