Emma Wilson wins Gold at Long Beach Olympic Classes Regatta

Britain’s Emma Wilson won the women’s iQFOiL gold at the Long Beach Olympic Board Classes Regatta.

Wilson finished with a win in the four-person final race, ahead of Aimee Bright of New Zealand with Marta Maggetti of Italy third.

Islay Watson also made the final to finish 4th.

In the men’s iQFOiL Britain’s Andy Brown made a great recovery to take Bronze in the four-person final.

Kun Bi of China was the surprise winner, ousting Grae Morris of Australia who had dominated the qualification races.

In the men’s Formula Kite, Maximilian Maeder SGP was the winner ahead of Riccardo Pianosi ITA, with third Qibin Huang of China. Britain’s Sam Dickson finished 11th.

In the women’s Formula Kite, Lauriane Nolot FRA came through the semifinal to take gold, with second Jessie Kampman NED and third Elena Lengwiler SUI.

Britain’s Lily Young  went out in the semifinal and placed sixth overall, Ella Geiger placed 16th.

The other six Olympic classes will compete at the San Pedro Olympic Classes Regatta in the Port of Los Angeles, with the ILCA 6, ILCA 7 and 470 fleets racing from 20-24 July, then the 49er, 49erFX and Nacra 17 classes from 3-7 August.
