San Pedro Olympic Classes Regatta – Day 1 for 49er, 49erFX and Nacra 17

The road to LA 2028 continues this week, with the final tranche of three classes, the 49er, 49erFX and the Nacra 17, at the San Pedro Olympic Classes Regatta.

In the women’s 49erFX the discard is already in play after three races. Antonia and Georgia LEWIN-LAFRANCE of Canada take the early lead with 3 pts counting a 3 and 1. Second are Saskia TIDEY andFreya BLACK on 4 pts, and third Ebba BERNTSSON and Vilma BOBECK of Sweden with 5 pts.

In the men’s 49er after three races, with discard, Richard SCHULTHEIS and Fabian RIEGER of Germany lead with a 4 and 2 on 6 pts. Second are Erwan FISCHER and Clément PÉQUIN of France tied on 7 pts with Harry PRICE and Max PAUL of Australia. Britain’s James GRUMMETT and Rhos HAWES are 5th with 8 pts.

In the mixed Nacra 17, Tim MOURNIAC and Aloise RETORNAZ of France lead counting a 1 and 2 on 3 pts. Second are John GIMSON and Anna BURNET of Britain counting a 2 and 3, with an 8 discard for 5 pts. Third are Emil JÄRUDD and Hanna JONSSON of Sweden with an 8 and 1 on 6 pts.

After 5 days of fleet racing, medal races will take place on the 6th and final day for the top 10 in each class to compete in a 2-race sail-off in the Final series for the podium.
