Nine races on the Leaderboard for the 49er, 49erFX and the Nacra 17, at the San Pedro, USA Olympic Classes Regatta see some lead changes.
In the mixed Nacra 17, things are not going well for Britain’s John GIMSON and Anna BURNET who suffered a DSQ in the third race Wednesday, after battling back with a 1 and 3 in the days two earlier races. They now sit in fifth with 44 pts.
Tim MOURNIAC and Aloise RETORNAZ (4, 2, -7) of France lead with 28 pts. Now in second are Sweden’s Emil JÄRUDD and Hanna JONSSON (5, 2, 4) tied on 29 pts with Brin LIDDELL and Rhiannan BROWN (7, 5, 3) of Australia. In fourth are the Dutch pair Willemijn OFFERMAN and Scipio HOUTMAN after a storming 9, 1, 1, score.
Better news in the women’s 49erFX, where British pair, Saskia TIDEY and Freya BLACK (2, -7, 5) move into a three point lead with 27 pts.
Ebba BERNTSSON and Vilma BOBECK of Sweden are second with 30 pts. Third are Paula BARCELO and Maria CANTERO of Spain on 39 pts. Long time leaders, Antonia and Georgia LEWIN-LAFRANCE of Canada drop to fifth.
In the men’s 49er after three more races, Richard SCHULTHEIS and Fabian RIEGER (-13, 4, 2) of Germany are clear leaders with 38 pts.
Second are Hernán UMPIERRE and Fernando DIZ of Uruguay with 51 pts and third are Erwan FISCHER / Clément PÉQUIN of France with 58 pts. Britain’s James GRUMMETT and Rhos HAWES (16, 9, 24) slip to 9th with 80 pts.
