One more day of racing remains before the medal series for the 49er, 49erFX and Nacra 17 competitors at the San Pedro Olympic Classes Regatta.
In the women’s 49erFX, Britain’s Saskia TIDEY and Freya BLACK (1, 8, 5) have 41 pts to extend their lead to 6 pts.
Second are Ebba BERNTSSON and Vilma BOBECK (9, 7, 1) of Sweden with 47 pts and third Antonia and Georgia LEWIN-LAFRANCE of Canada on 55 pts.
In the mixed Nacra 17, Britain’s John GIMSON and Anna BURNET closed the points gap to just seven points on leaders Sweden’s Emil JÄRUDD and Hanna JONSSON (7, 6, 1) on 43 pts. But despite three second place finishes they remain in fifth place with 50 pts.
Second are Tim MOURNIAC and Aloise RETORNAZ (5, 4, 7) of France with 44 pts, and third the Dutch pair Willemijn OFFERMAN and Scipio HOUTMAN, tied on 45 pts with with Brin LIDDELL and Rhiannan BROWN of Australia.
In the men’s 49er, Richard SCHULTHEIS and Fabian RIEGER (-19, 7, 3) of Germany lead with 61 pts. Up into second after another good day are Mattias COUTTS and Oscar GUNN (1, 2, 6) of New Zealand with 77 pts. Third are Erwan FISCHER and Clément PÉQUIN (4, 8, 9) of France with 79 pts.
Britain’s James GRUMMETT and Rhos HAWES (7, 1, 8) had a better day with a win in the second race and are now sixth overall with 96 pts.
