What exactly is AI doing in the America’s Cup and how far has it gone

What exactly is AI doing in America’s Cup sailing, and is it already taking over from the sailors?

Inside America’s Cup Podcast host Niall Myant-Best talks with Nick Holroyd, Head of Design at the British America’s Cup challenge GB1.

Holroyd outlines the technical side of how this transformative technology is already changing the game. And how AI is being used right now by America’s Cup teams to design faster and more efficient boats, and how it could even be onboard during racing.

But there’s a rule specifically to stop America’s Cup boats being sailed by a computer. So what is AI actually doing on these boats?

Ben Ainslie’s GB1 team has recently announced a partnership with an AI company called PhysicsX, and this AI software is being used right now to help design the latest iteration of the British AC75 boat for the next America’s Cup.

And before this cup is out, we could potentially be seeing this system on board during a race.
