The ILCA6 Women’s World Championships open Monday in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland with a fleet of 105 competitors from 44 countries racing on Dublin Bay.
The event follows on from the successful men’s ILCA 7 event and will follow the same format, with 5 days of the Qualifying Series before the final day sees two Final Series races for the Top 10, with the carried forward accumulated scores halved.
This is not the official World Sailing format recommended for the Olympics, but a class decision for their world championships.
Reigning World Champion Louise Cervera of France is competing and the Irish have Rio 2016 Silver medalist Annalise Murphy who returns to competition eight months after becoming a mother.
