Martine Grael has been confirmed as U.S. team’s new driver for this weekend’s Rolex Switzerland Sail Grand Prix in Geneva.
The confirmation comes just days after she announced her immediate departure from the Brazilian SailGP team, where Paul Goodison has taken over as Driver.
The U.S. team was hit by a double injury blow ahead of the event, with Taylor Canfield and reserve Harry Melges both ruled out of action due to separate injuries. Grael will now take on the challenge of driving the American F50 with the team locked in a tight battle for a place in the season-defining Grand Final.
The Americans currently sit third in the championship standings behind Los Gallos and the Bonds Flying Roos, with just one point separating them from Nathan Outteridge’s Artemis in fourth.
Valencia winner the United States will compete in Group A against ROCKWOOL Racing, Los Gallos, Germany by Deutsche Bank, Artemis, DS Automobiles France and Mubadala Brazil.
The Rolex Switzerland Sail Grand Prix takes place in Geneva this weekend, September 19-20.
