It might have been slow, very slow, but the best was saved to last, the very last, at the SailGP Geneva Grand Prix.
After ten slo-mo races across two days on Lake Geneva, Diago Botin and Spain’s Los Gallos left it to the final tack of the final race to snatch a winning lead, with a perfect slam dunk tack on the bow of Tom Slingsby’s Bond Flying Roos.
Four teams made it to the event Final race: Bond Flying Roos Tom Slingsby, Los Gallos Diago Botin, Explora Swiss, Sebastien Schneiter and Rockwool Racing, Nicolai Sehested.
Slingsby captured the foiling start to lead from the Spanish at gate 2, but approaching gate 3 Botin came in on a collision cross to execute the perfect lee-bow tack, round the final mark ahead and pull away to cross the finish with a 14 second lead.
ROCKWOOL Racing take the final podium spot while Explora Swiss were fourth.
