First day of racing for the second Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup Preliminary Regatta (PR2) on the Bay of Naples.
With conditions on the edge at 16+ knots, two races were completed with the Luna Ross Senior Team taking a 2 and 1 for 19 pts and a five point lead.
Second are Emirates Team New Zealand Senior Team with a 5 and 3, tied with ARC Team USA with a 1 and 7 both on 14 pts.
The USA team opened proceedings with a runaway win finishing ahead of Luna Rossa Senior and GB2 Women & Youth.
In the second race, La Roche-Posay rolled over in a bearaway to avoid an early start. They retred and all were declared safe.
The Luna Rossa Senior team took off to lead all the way to the finish. Second were the Swiss Tudor Team Alinghi with ETNZ Senior taking third ahead of their Women & Youth Team.
Four races are scheduled for Friday.
