The 2026 iQFOiL U23 World Championships got underway Monday on the Bay of Puck, Poland, with 148 sailors from 34 nations.
In the Men’s fleet, Federico Alan Pilloni (ITA) made the strongest start to the championship, putting together a consistent opening series to take the provisional overall lead tied on 4 pts with Côme Joly (FRA), with Leonardo Tomasini (ITA) in third with 5 pts after four races.
Best placed British competitor is Duncan Monaghan in 5th place with 10 pts.
In the Women’s fleet Aimee Bright (NZL) won three of her four races to lead with 3 pts.
Maya Gysler (NOR) is second while compatriot Tuva Oppedal (NOR) completes the provisional top three after the first day of competition.
