SailGP are pushing the 2027 championship circuit as hard as they can go, with tickets on sale for its debut in Hong Kong in January 2027 for the American Express Hong Kong Sail Grand Prix.
From there the circuit will pack-up and head to Fremantle for the Australia Sail Grand Prix Perth on 20-21 February, which has happy memories for Emirates Team GB as the last place they won an event in 2026.
They will be hoping for a similar kick-start to 2027, although the early part of the year will be taken up with another high-level event . . . the 38th America’s Cup, which involves a considerable number of sailors from the SailGP Teams.
With three SailGP events crossing with America’s Cup events (not counting training/tuning time) making it a very busy time, with crew concentration and stress levels at the fore, and injury an ever present factor.

With the British GB1 America’s Cup team not likely to get their rebuilt AC75 in the water until late January – if they get over their Courtroom battles – they are going to be flat out playing catch-up to produce any realistic challenge in Naples.
And during that crucial America’s Cup tuning and training period, they have at least four SailGP events . . . Hong Kong , Perth, San Francisco and Bermuda to compete in. Maybe they have a second team lined up to take some of the strain!

There are two Preliminary AC38 events scheduled: the first for the actual America’s Cup AC70s over the 22 and 23 May featuring fleet racing, and the Louis Vuitton Challenger’s Selection Series (CSS) for the Louis Vuitton Cup, opening on the weekend of the 26-27 June and could finish over the following weekend of the 3-4 July 2027.
The actual America’s Cup Match begins over the weekend of the 10-11 July 2027, with the final day scheduled for Monday 19 July.
But before then there are still the two final events of the 2026 Rolex Championship to go – Dubai and the US$2 million winner-takes-all, Championship-deciding Grand Final in Abu Dahbi.
The Saudi Arabia/UAE area is still under regular rocket and drone attack, and recently attempted passenger aircraft hi-jack, but SailGP are determined to stick to the script, apparently with the agreement of the teams and sponsors. Interesting times.
