Tom Laperche (SVR-Lazartigue) continues to lead the Ultim fleet at the front of the Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe.
Laperche has a 455 nm lead over Thomas Coville (Sodebo Ultim 3) with Ultim newcomer Louis Burton (Armand Thiery), just 40 nm astern and both sailing faster than Laperche on Friday morning.
With 600 nm to the finish at Guadeloupe, the lack of the customary trade winds means Laperche will have to make an upwind approach to Pointe-à-Pitre at Guadeloupe.
Sasha Lanièce, on the Class40 ALDERAN, reported at 07:05 hrs Friday that her boat was damaged while sailing North of the Azores. In 15th position, she was sailing in strong winds – between 35 and 40 knots and a 5 meter sea. Her team remain on alert to assist and follow her live.
